If you like living in a place surrounded by nature, Brecksville in Cuyahoga County is for you. The defining feature of the city is one-third of its 19.54 square-mile area is well-preserved park land, where 2,500 acres of forest and an astounding array of flora and fauna freely thrive in rolling woodlands and ravines.
Located 15 miles south of Cleveland, Brecksville wears its suburban, small-town vibe proudly. With a fairly vibrant downtown and convenient access to big-city amenities, the town's 13,500+ residents will tell you: Brecksville is an all-around city that’s a joy to live in.
Beginning as a small community in 1811, Brecksville was founded by a certain Colonel John Breck, who ironically never laid down roots in the settlement that was named after him. Breck’s three sons, however, would make the fledgling town their home. Brecksville incorporated as a city in 1960. Today, it’s mainly known as an integral part of The Emerald Necklace Trail which connects Brecksville Reservation to neighboring nature preserves. Moreover, Brecksville also has access to one of the most competitive school districts in the state, making it an ideal home for families.
